There are so many fabulous crafts in danger of becoming extinct. Get yourself off to all your local country fairs, craft exhibitions, college exhibitions etc this summer. My local college has fabulous creative skills courses, including soft furnishings, passementerie, quilting, carpentry, blacksmithing etc. It's brilliant to see.Keep our crafts alive and support them as much as you can or we may lose them. You'll be amazed at the talent and skill in these places and you will probably end up buying something you will not find anywhere else. I know you can get good bargains on the high street but it is nice to treat yourself to something unique.

We need to be pleased we don't live in one of todays newly built apartment blocks where you and the other 299 people living there all have the same kitchen / bathroom / flooring!! We are all creatives on this site are we not.....try customising, or go to student end of year shows, or auction houses :-)

Keep your eyes open for college exhibitions being held in your area. There will be some of the students willing to sell their pieces hoping to gain a foothold in the market. I had lots of enquiries about my soft furnishings after displaying at my end of term exhibition, and most of them turned into commissions. I wish I'd had room for some of the beautiful carpentry that was on display. The young lads on the course were happy to get rid of the project pieces they had been assigned to make for the exam board.
