The Vision
yoo is an international branding, design and marketing property company enhancing the quality and adding value to development projects in major towns and cities across the world.
It is a collaboration of ideas: the experience of the world’s most celebrated designer, Philippe Starck, matched with the vision of John Hitchcox, the man credited with transforming London’s loft living. These two leaders in their fields have come together in a single, ground breaking idea: to couple the creative diversity of Starck with the innovative buildings developed by Hitchcox.
Over the past eight years yoo has been working across the world with international partners on a variety of landmark buildings and large residential projects throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America and the Middle East.
Currently yoo is involved in the development of more than 25,000 apartments valuing over $10 billion in 21 countries.
Planning the space
Try to achieve a clean, simple and flexible design, the fun can come in the fittings and furnishings.Putting together colour schemes
Unless you are an expert don’t try to do everything at once, decide on key themes and live with them and build on these slowly. The same principle applies to the use of patterns.Flooring
Many changes in floor finish do not make a room interesting, especially in smaller spaces, it can feel more generous to keep the same finish throughout and instead create zones with rugs. Timber and natural stone are still the timeless choice.Walls
Try to make at least one wall the focus and keep it free of electronic switches etc. Be wary of funky curves. Niches have been very in for a while but can be overdone.Fabrics and soft furnishings
Layered window treatments give flexibility in light and privacy; blinds in combination with sheer and opaque curtains give a sense of luxury.Lighting
Use only concealed fixed lighting and free standing. You’ll be able to take the loose stuff with you if you move and avoid acres of recessed ceiling spot lights.
