  • Recovering an old headboard

I've had this old headboard that i never love the colour of and just decided to buy some fabric at the weekend and recover it. I got the rope and fabric for less that £13 in yorkshire and then bought a staple gun and got to work. So pleased with the work....can't believe i've completely transformed the room by updating the fabric and it only cost £13 to do. Really advise it for anyone wanting to add a new look to tehir bedroom! You need 2m of fabric, plenty to cover a kingsize head board, staple gun, all purpose glue If you look at how the old headboard was covered just cover it the same way.

  • Flowers at Christmas

Hello, someone asked me what flowers are particularly Christmassy. Amaryllis are really popular at this time of year. I love them so much because their petals really sparkle, it's like they have a dusting of glitter. They're really structural flowers which i'm not into so much but i do love these - you can have 5 in a vase and they look great. I would putt a bamboo stick up the stem to give it support as the flower itself is very heavy. They should last 6-8 days at least. Amaryllis means pride.

  • Lillies flowers of death?

Someone just asked me whether the lily symbolised death so I thought I'd add some meanings of flowers to the blog The lily is commonly placed on graves, or on coffins when they're first buried. They actually symbolise innocence and purity. The white lily is linked to Juno, the queen of the gods in Roman mythology, by the story that while nursing her son Hercules, some excess milk fell from the sky creating the group of stars we call the Milky Way, and lilies were created from what milk fell to the earth.  The reason why they're therefore commonly used at funerals is that people believe it symbolises the restored innonence of your soul. At weddings it's very common to have lily of the valley in the Bride's bouquet which means happiness, purity of heart, sweetness, tears of the Virgin Mary, you've made my life complete, humility, happiness. The legend of the lily of the valley is that it sprang from Eve's tears when she was kicked out of the Garden of Eden. It is also more »
