    The T.V arrived and sat unopened in the corner of my living room for about 2 weeks whilst my husband and I disagreed vehemently about the size and the position of the offending item. Bad things were said the word "chav" was used and there was nearly complete marrital breakdown when he suggested that maybe the piano could go to make way for his new toy!! It was suggested that if I was a really good interior designer then I would be able to incorporate this oversized piece of technology efffortlessly into the interior scheme. Which is a bit like saying " I have bought a lifesize plastic giraffe that I would like you to incorporate into a minimalistic interior, oh and make it look inconspicuous whilst you are at it. There was nothing for it but to call in my architect friend to look at the problem from another perspective, being a man I thought he would appreciate the T.V with it's blue ray potential in all it's glory,  versus his 'architect's' natural sense of the aesthetic. ie.   • It's me or the 46" T.V!

    When my husband announced that he was going to buy a new T.V to replace our old one, that to be fair had long past it's sell by date, I have a vague memory of agreeing that this was a good idea, and some recollection of a discussion about it fitting into one of the alcoves in our living room. Now whilst in my professional life as an interior designer, something as important as deciding on the size of a T.V measured against the available space, the integration of the cabling and surround sound system into a scheme, would be something that was carefully planned to ensure that my client had a perfect design solution. Seemlessly blending the technology into an aestetically perfect environment. But after a hard day's work when all that really matters is that all important glass of Rioja and the new series of Desperate Housewives, something went horribly wrong with my normal brain function and I allowed him to order the T.V all by himself.
