I am a sophomore in college. I am working on two degrees, one in Business Management, one in Interior Design. Some day I hope to start my own company that is nation wide. People will be able to come in and we will have a kitchen specialist, a traditionalist, a modernist, a bedroom designer, ect. You get the picture.

I wanted to share with everyone my amazing idea of a headboard. I am taking on old 70's fireplace mantle and turning it into my headboard. To fill in the middle part where you would normally get to the fire at, I am simply going to take some plywood and cover it up. Then so it is not plain right in the middle I am going to add on a medallion. Also, down the sides I will add some 2by4s so that instead of pushing my bed all the way back against the wall and the headboard taking up some of my bed, or so that there is not a funny looking gap between the bed and the wall under the new headboard, there will be wood there also. I may even add some storage if I get really crafty. You don't always need to spend money on something new when you can get something even better and more unique to suit your own style.

  • my first place

So I just closed on my first house. Well technically my parents next rental property, but I am living in it and designing it. We are doing all new grey siding with black shutters to match the black roof. We are turning a half bath into a wonderful master bath and I am going to have a total of 13square feet of closet space in my bedroom! I have already designed two 3D rooms that are more or less examples of my bedroom and living room/dining room. They are not perfect because of course the furniture and acsessories do not match exactly right. However, you can get an idea. This will be my first major project. I am picking floors, countertops, light fixtures, ect. Be on the look out for before and after pictures. Also, keep in mind that all the furnishings and decor are done on a college student's modest budget.
