  • Best furniture investment?

What's the best piece of furniture you have invested in? It could be an expensive mattress, or a self assembly bookshelf that fits perfectly into an alcove. Please tell us what the item is and why you are delighted that you brought it. To start the ball rolling, Mine is a tall chest of drawers about 6'6'' tall that is an old shop display unit-probably dating from the 1940's its made of wood and has about 10 drawers most of which are glass fronted. I brought it before I even got my flat and the dealer kindly kept it in storage for 6 months until I found a place to live and moved in. The reason I love it is because it houses a ton of tops and underwear and accessories, its very tall but also slender so it does'nt take up a ton of space in the bedroom, and because I hate 'conventional' bed-roomy furniture it suits me down to the ground as its functional and almost utilitarian looking. Wherever I may live in the future I am certain I shall move my drawer unit with me.

My bed! My first double bed, it is a bit black and poley but it is still fit for a princess! Sadly ...

  • Describe your home

Dont be shy-describe where you live; tell us about your style-things you like about your home, and things you dont, also if you could change one thing about where you live what would it be/ I live in an ex-brewery so I have high ceilings and lots of windows in my living room, as well as an exposed brick wall, I've furnished it with 1960's scandinavian furniture and kept it quite simple, because almost one wall is filled by a floor to ceiling bookshelf which looks quite busy filled with books and objects. I'd love a garden or patio, and wish I could afford to have shutters made up for my living room windows because at present they're a bit draughty and rattle! kitty xxx
