Since my last blog, the space upstairs is done. New woodfloor, white and shiny walls and ceiling. Our new project now is painting the exterior of our house... Which should not be a problem.... That is, if you life somewhat south of the Polar Circle. Which I don't..... We managed to paint 3/4 of the house this weekend, Yippi! So now we're patiently waiting for satisfying weather = not rain.... The house is not that good looking at the moment, with the red old paint peeking out here and there... Hopefully, we'll be finished painting by next weekend (please do the sundance with us in mind ;-))! We're changing the colour from cherryred to knight's grey, looking forward to se the complete change.  Anyway, since last, the snow has gone and my sorry brown lawn has come to sight... Should be out grooming the lawn so that fresh new grass can come through, but same rule applies for painting outside as for grooming the lawn; it is best done when it's not raining :-(.

  • new beginners.....

Woke up this morning (trying this new experiment; being an early bird) to a new white and shiny ceiling upstairs!! Not totally unexpected, though, I did spend all yesterday evening painting it (splendid cowork by my love)... Painted it last november, but wasn't totally satisfied.... Now I am! ;-) We're also renovating the walls, putting up new paintable wallpaper (also going to be shiny white) , but did the typical newbeginners mistake... Did'nt buy enough wallpaper! This would not be a problem at all if we still lived in the city, but living up here, we have to PLAN things (not my strongest side). Just have to hope one of the local shops has the same type. Otherwise we are set back by a weeks work. Not a totaly disaster, but we have a lot of work to do before all the little buggers (insects...) wake up before the summer. Have to paint the house fasade.. Decided on grey as the main colour,  charcoal around the windows etc.  You guys down in comfy England problably had a nice spring by more »

  • The grand opening..

We bought our first home last august , a perfect little house on a perfect little island up north (Norway). We've lived in Oslo and Gothenburgh previously, but after ending university in 2005 I thought it was time to move up north again and try "the simple life".... And we've never looked back! Truly love living here..... So now we've started decorating our new home, to make it a little bit more our own. Just did some simple painting of ceilings ( was pinewood panels = stealing all light!) and walls to begin with, all white and grey to create a sense of continuity trouhgout the small rooms. Yesterday we started renovating our second floor, after our poor dog Dino had a rather harsh celebration of his 12th birthday on the original carpet... ;-) So now we've decided to lay oakwood floors (sorry for the english, not my native tongue), new painting on the ceiling and walls. All white! Have chosen paint with high degree of shine (hopefully u know what I mean... ;-)), so that the light more »
