Christmas Decorations

Christmas is a time of celebration, and what better way to celebration than with decorations. The centerpiece of Christmas decorations is invariably the Christmas tree. Each year families pile into the car to pick out their Christmas tree. Once they've gotten it home, they break out the old ornament box and go to work. The final product is sparkling display of lights, garlands, colorful balls, and family heirlooms. In many parts of the world it is also tradition to decorate the outside of your home. If you take an evening drive during the holiday season you can find homes illuminated with lights and yards decorated with Santa and his sleigh, reindeer, and nativity scenes. Other common Christmas decorations include plants such as mistletoe, holly, and poinsettias. Although church and state have been separated, many cities still sponsor secular decorations in their downtown areas such as banners and Christmas trees.
