  • About sturdygirl

I live in sunny Bournemouth, so great location. In an ideal world I'd like to live in a home with clean lines, strong colour and simplicity. In reality I live in a flat with a crazymad 6 year old boy who fills the place up with clutter. I'm just about to sell up and I'm looking forward to being able to decorate the way I want without having to worry about keeping it neutral for the buyers!

  • Freecycle. This could change my life.

Well who knew there was such a thing as Freecycle. Quite a few of you apparently. After my recent blog I was advised to give away some of my clutter through this awesome organisation and I'm beside myself with all the possibilities. Maybe I can finally empty my flat of all the heaps of belongings that my son and myself have hoarded so carefully . Can you see us sat there in our skull caps and fingerless gloves? I visited all of the freecycle sites local to me this morning and Oh the irony...... I'm already a member. This must have happened on one of my very late night sessions. You know what I mean. You're trawling the web, bleary eyed with fatigue, endlessly clicking on all kinds of links and suddenly you find something really interesting. Your eyeballs are throbbing with the pain of staring at the screen and you can't stay awake a moment longer so you decide to just join the groups and you'll come back tomorrow to have a really good look. Apparently I've left it more »

  • Learning to let go

I will apologise in advance for my ramblings as I've never blogged before (if that's the right word for it) and I'm not sure how to start. I'm hoping that there might be a few people on here that can give me some tips on how I throw away at least three quarters of my posessions before I move. We all hear about how we should de-clutter our lives and even our colons in some instances, so that we can move on to a more fulfilling period in our life. Well I'm afraid that fear and finances stop me dead in my tracks when it comes to throwing anything in the wheelie bin. I've been told that I shall have to clear out and clean up my flat before I  can even expect potential buyers to look around it. I understand this in theory but try telling that to my 6 year old boy who's guarding his rescue heroes collection with a plastic hammer as I type. Gives a surprisingly nasty bang to the kneecap that does. How do I explain that yes he can take everything, even the gummy more »
