Biome Lifestyle Eggshell boat bowl

This beautiful bowl in the shape of a boat has been hand carved from local wood by Vietnamese craftsmen working in a cooperative.

The careful and laborious lacquering process using natural lacquer takes 90 days to complete. The co-operative uses different types of recycled eggshell to form their decorative designs by hand. Eggshell is a great natural product giving the design a cracked look. Because of shell's naturally crème to brown colour, the designs work very well in homes that feature lots of wood, and leather furniture. Lacquerware is a part of Vietnam's traditional culture; the practice has not changed for thousands of years. This handmade bowl makes a lovely eco-present. 30cm length.
